With the 5 new civilizations to control, new campaigns, new game types, real world maps, and many new changes to The Age of Kings, the Conquerors expansion pack adds 10 times more excitement to the already thrilling game. This game is so much fun!! You choose from some of the greatest civilizations of this plant. You choose from the Britons to the Celts to the Persians to the Saracens to the Mayans and much more. You then change your tiny civilization into a triving empire, conquering your enemies and expanding your empire. You can build so many things. Castles, seige workshops, archery ranges, barracks, docks, and even your own Wonder of the World. The Age of Kings campaign is great, you start with William Wallace, where you learn how to play the game, while you help the Scottish drive the British out of Scotland. From there you can help Joan of Arc win the Hundred Years’ War, or join Saladin in the Middle East. In the Conquerors campaign ride with Attila the Hun, help El Cid of Spain or Emperor Montezuma of the Aztecs. So, the choice is yours. You will have a blast with this game!

Age Of Empires 2 is a masterpiece. Regardless of any complaints anyone has made about this game, there is no arguing. This one of the most fun, addictive, and satisfying games ever made.
You can play it for months. I played it for over a year, then came back and played it for another year. It’s probably the most addictive game I’ve ever played. Not Mario, not Zelda, not the great Doom, not Quake or Half-life or Warcraft or even Grand Theft Auto has ever had me as hooked as this game. Microsoft and Ensemble Studios hit the nail on the head with AOE 2.
The sequel to Age Of Empires keeps everything that made the first one great, throws away almost everything that made it bad, and throws an amazing, revamped user interface that gives the player god-like power if used expertly.
The different civilizations are fantastic. The advantages and disadvantages of each one make the game interesting and balanced, although some civilizations are better (overall) than others. I mean, really, who doesn’t love (and equally hate) the Longbowmen? The War Elephants? The Woad Raiders? The Throwing Axeman?
The units are the best part of the game. Except for the paladin and scorpion wipeout trick, the unit balance is superb. The naval battles are amazing, with fireships, ballista ships, and even ships that launch cannonballs.
There are more buildings, tons more upgrades, and a brand-new unit I like to call the x-factor: the trebuchet. This is one of the units that makes AOE 2 a true delight. As built up as a city can become, it can be destroyed in minutes with enough trebuchets.
The multiplayer aspect of this game is what solidifies AOE 2′s standing as one of the best games ever made. It is surreal. I’ve had 12-hour multiplayer sessions many times. You just don’t want to stop. It’s so fun!!! It’s madness!
As far as challenge goes, you’ll get all you want. Just try beating the entire game on the hardest difficulty and see the headache you get. And if you get through with that, buy the expansion pack and eat your heart out.
Buy this game! Play it until you’re sick of it! That probably won’t happen, but even if it does, when you come back from your break you’ll be twice as hooked.
Ha!!! The memories I have of this game! Man, this is the best!

(…) I can say that AOE 2 is my second favorite game of all time, it is so well done… You get to control civilizations from the Britons to the Turks to the Byzantines, and build swordsmen, archers, knights, and castles; what could be more fun? Unfortunately, it took 2 years from the time it was released on the PC to get it over to the Mac. It’s here now, though, so we can finally play it.
It’s not be the best port in the world, but at least it’s there, and it hardly if ever crashes after you update CarbonLib. Besides, you can just save your game when important things happen in it… Aside from getting a PC, there’s no other way to play it, and I definitely recommend this as a must-have for anyone who plays games on a Mac.
One last thing: For some reason, the hotkey for gate and archery range are both ‘A’, so you have to change it under options to ‘/’, which is what it’s supposed to be…

The first time that I played age of empires II was on my freind’s computer. At the time the game was only out for PC and I (bieng a mac guy) couldn’t buy it.I always hoped that microsoft would bring out a version for mac and now they finally have! The Gold edition is practically the same as the regular with a few changes to specific units and attributes. The only problems that I have had are easily fixed or trivial. For instance something about the game makes the screen whiteish but that is easily fixed by fiddling around with the monitor colors. All in all, Great game!

Age of Empires II is really fun. I’ve played a lot of strategy games, and this one is the best. WarCraftII, StarCraft, Majesty, WarCraft, Civilization, Centauri. But none of them were this good. The Graphics are really nice, and the gameplay is fun. It’s really easy to use too. The Campaigns span over many civilizations and different time periods. It’s a lot more fun with the expansion though, so I recommend that you buy the Gold Edition. There are many many civilizations to play around with, so gameplay has no end. The option to make your own maps and Campaigns is a blast. You can also choose different paths to take your civilizations along. You could make a huge trading community with large farmland. Or you could take control of the world with huge armies. Although when you first start out, you don’t make that many units,
but when you become more familiar with the game you will want to create larger armies, but the most units you can make is 200.
Good things:
-Nice Graphics
-Good Music Track
-Easy To Learn
-Difficulty Levels
Bad things:
-Cannot Create Recources In Map Editor
-Strict amount of units you can create. (Only 200)
Over all Age of Empires II is a great game. It is definitely worth the money. I recommend it to all ages.

I own a LOT of computer games(including madden 2006) and this by far is my favorite. There is a huge variety of charecters,Ships, war machines, and Buildings, that inclued monks that can convert the oposing militarys men to your team color, technologys that you can upgrade as you advance through the ages,(such as adavanced buildings and upgraded armys), and villagers that can mine for gold and stone, collect and hunt for food such as berries and deer, and build castles houses and many other buildings. This game would most likely be too advanced for youger children, but for older kids and teens it’s perfect. If you buy it (which I certainly think you should), then get the Gold edition and not the regular edition because it includes an expansion where you can play as aztecs, huns, koreans, mayans, and the spanish. OR instead of starting out small with a few people and some sheep or turkey, you can create a scenario where you create your own map ,choose your army, select heroes like robin hood, and construct huge castles and wonders. I reccomend this game to anyone smart enough to lead an army, and would pay over $100 dollars for it.

Age of Empires 2 is a cooooool game. If you have already played AOE 1 then you will really like this game. Instead of a population of 50 in AOE1 you can have a population of 200. You can build your economy very quickly in this game and can create a mighty army in this game. When I played this game I found out that it has serveral cool campaigns also. The campaign of Genghis Khan was very difficult due to lack of resources but otherwise very good. But in the difficulty of between moderate and hard is only when you enjoy. Rest are either too easy to win or too hard to win. The recorded game had helped me a lot in acheiving a lot in this game.

Age of Empires II gold pack is the best game I have ever played. It combines strategy and skill to run your civilization succesfully. Having the option of being more than one civilization gives you the chance to explore different civilizations units and archetecture, as well as to govern it to victory. Overall, this is the best game I have ever played and I won’t play anything else. It is also educational. Even though I am nearing fifty and have studied ancient civilizations for half my life, it still teaches me new things.

At last. A Mac version of Age Of Empires II. Altought it is a great game it seems that these guys didn’t have time to finish it before October, 31 (shipping day) and shipped the beta version. I get an “Unexpectely Quit” error all the time (Tried it on different machines), and this [is bad] when you are playing a multiplayer game. I hope they fix it soon.
